The article analyzes a relationship between types of capitalism and social nutrition practices in families, taking into account a social status dimension. The empirical research based on studying social feeding practices of St. Petersburg residents, Russia, by means of a telephone survey using CATI technology, conducted by the Center for Sociological and Online Research at St. Petersburg State University. The main research objectives were to analyze quantitative and qualitative nutrition indicators of St. Petersburg residents in order to identify the existing beliefs about good nutrition, as well as social practices used in food consumption.
