N2 - Calculations have been performed on the informativeness and optimum measurement conditions for outgoing thermal radiation in the 9. 6 mu m absorption band of O//3 for indirect determination of the vertical distribution and total ozone content. Various ways are suggested for improving the accuracy in determining ozone by means of meteorological satellites. It is shown that heterodyne measurement of the outgoing radiation produces a substantial increase in the accuracy of the indirect method in the upper stratosphere.
