N2 - A number of mesogenic poly(methacrylates) with the varying dipole architecture of mesogenic nuclei were studied by equilibrium electric birefringence, dielectric measurements, and refractometry. It was shown that the introduction of halogen substituents into the mesogenic nuclei leads to a reduction in the dipole moments and the Kerr constant for the polymers under study. The effect of the dipole structure of macromolecules on the electrooptical characteristics of the studied poly(methacrylates) was analyzed.
