The current response in cyclic voltammogranms of MnO₂, WO₃ and their composites with poly-3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene have been analyzed with regard to classification of the materials as being battery-electrode like or pseudocapacitive taking into account the current state of debate on this topic. Reasons for the observed differences and discrepancies from reported claims and suggestions are critically examined.
