N2 - The paper considers the possibilities for use of measurements of scattered and reflected solar radiation from space in the CH 4 absorption band at 2.32 μm to obtain information about the atmospheric methane content. The results of numerical modelling of a space experiment indicate that it is possible to determine the total methane content with a potential accuracy of ∼5% for measurement errors of 1%.
