Crystal chemistry of «cyprine» - Cu-bearing vesuvianite from Kleppan (Sauland province, Norway) in samples from the Mineralogical Museum of the Saint Petersburg University (mS) and the Fersman Mineralogical Museum (mF) has been studied by electron microprobe analysis, single crystal X-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. The crystal structures are refined in the P4/nnc space group (a = 15.4889(5), c = 11.7730(4) Å, V = 2824.4(2) Å3 for mS, and a = 15.4840(2), c = 11.7552(2) Å, V = 2818.4(1) Å3 for mF) to R 1 = 0.040 and R 1 = 0.023, respectively. In the crystal structure of «cyprine», Cu atoms selectively occupy five-coordinated Y1(Y') position (with Mg being a predominant component), whereas Mg occupies the Y2 site. Fluorine is concentrated in the O10 position. Symmetry of the investigated samples corresponds to the space group P4/nnc that suggests their crystallization temperature in the range of 500-800 °C.
