N2 - Available results of laboratory investigations of the dynamic strength of various sandstone types are analyzed with the use of the incubation time criterion in both compression and tension cases. Based on this approach, a theoretical relation is derived, which describes the increase in the sample fracture stress under dynamic conditions. Incubation times for all materials considered in the study are estimated.
