The article investigates the very actual scientific and philosophical problems of formation of both the civic and national self-consciousness in the process of improvement of the model of political education emerging in frames of the Western European liberal political culture of XIX century and continuing to produce a great impact on development of political discourse practically in all regions of the modern world. A special attention is given to comparative analysis of the models of civic education and national identity.
