We consider the problem of steady-state creep of a rod in torsion with a crack parallel to the axis. We obtain an expression for the principal term of the asymptotic form of the stress function in the neighborhood of the vertex of the crack, and we obtain an explicit formula for the coefficient in the high-order term of the asymptotic form, in the form of a contour integral. Bounds for this coefficient are given.
