Polymorphism of PPARA G/C, PPARD +294T/C, PPARG Pro12Ala, PGC-1 Gly482Ser, UCP2 Ala55Val, and UCP3 -55C/T genes in elderly people (group 1) and a control group (25-55 aged people) (group 2) from the Northwest Region of Russia was studied by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods. Higher frequencies of T/C PPARD, Ser/Ser PGC-1, and C/C UCP3 genotypes in group 1 compared to group 2 were found. Furthermore, different distribution of PPARA, PPARD, PGC-1, and UCP2 genotypes in men and women, was shown. We suggest that PPARA, PPARD, PGC-1, and UCP3 polymorphism is significant for survival.
