The quality of students' research could be greatly improved if motivation of their research activity will be strengthened. Motivation induces and supports research activity of students and includes a variety of motives connected with their cognitive and social needs. Their proportion provides the value of conducting research for the student. Motivation depends also on the conditions of educational environment. But, the relationship between motivation of research activity, personality characteristics and attitudes and assessment of educational environment has not been studied. In our study, 90 students from different faculties of university were attended. We used personality and motivation tests, a questionnaire, and content, comparative, and correlative analysis. The results show differences in proportions of different kinds of cognitive and social motives and motives of obligation for undergraduates and graduate students.
