This article is devoted to the 190th anniversary of Decembrist uprising. It represents a historiographical review of studying of revolt on December 14, 1825 in domestic historical science. First, the problem of historical value of the Decembrist movement is considered. Authors begin the research with an analysis of reaction of the authorities to the revolt. This is followed by an analysis of the works which appeared during the pre-revolutionary period. Authors draw on works of professional historians and politicians. Soviet historiography, which arose in the largest scientific centers of the country - Moscow and Leningrad - is analysed with special care. It is especially valuable that authors separately discuss questions of celebration of jubilee from the moment of revolt on Senate Square. Modern scientific and historical works touching on a decemberism history issue did not remain unaddressed.
