N2 - Nowadays artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming the main driver of the global economy. However, it is evident that conducting research and development in the field of AI requires both an already established scientific school and availability of expensive equipment. The Turkic-speaking states are no exception in this regard. In recent years, they have been paying great attention to the development of AI technologies, however, lacking a solid financial and technological base for this, they are forced to use technical solutions proposed by Western IT companies, which poses a direct threat to their technological sovereignty. Hence, those countries have to plan cooperative efforts and elaborate joint approaches and standards for the development of AI technologies. A convenient platform for the implementation of this task is the Organization of Turkic States (OTS). In this regard, the purpose of this article is to determine the prospects for the formation of a joint AI ecosystem of the Turkic states based on the analysis of the AI technologies development in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The analysis shows that in some Turkic-speaking countries (primarily Turkey and Kazakhstan), AI technologies are being actively implemented. However, for the most part, all these technological innovations are based on architectures that have been developed by Western IT companies. Increased cooperation in these areas within the framework of OTS can reduce this dependence, however, at the moment this cooperation is very chaotic, which prevents the formation of a joint AI ecosystem within the space of Turkic-speaking states.
