The publication discusses approaches to the study of the territorial organization of recreation in the European territory of Russia at various hierarchical levels. The method of recreational zoning is proposed as the main tool at the macro-regional and regional levels. At the macro-regional level, a landscape-administrative approach is used for identifying recreational provinces. It is based on the landscape-geographical interpretation of information organized according to the administrative division. The publication contains a regionalization map developed by the authors and a fragment of a detailed legend. At the regional level, a cultural-landscape approach has been proposed for identifying recreational regions. This approach, used for regionalization, allows to take into account both the natural and cultural potential of the territory and the degree of its demand in the process of recreational development. Recreational areas and recreational complexes are localized within recreational regions, forming a discrete network. Their allocation relates to the problem of zoning of the territory. To study the spatial organization of recreation at a local level, the authors have proposed a landscape-dynamic approach, adapted to study territorial recreational complexes and areas.
