Previously contaminated areas have become a deterrent for economic growth, the reason for reducing environmental ratings of territories and, as a result, a barrier for foreign and domestic investments. This problem is particularly acute for economic development of the regions, since there is every year increasing of unused land areas contaminated as a result of past economic activity, which leads to the expansion of extensive approach to nature, arising from the formation and expansion of lesions and necrosis of large biosphere resources. The article deals with the problems of chemical and biological pollution of the environment from mercury object (past environmental damage) PED.
