The history of paleontological collection of the greatest scientist of the XIX th century E. I. Eichwald to monograph «Palaeontology of Russia» is given. The collection is kept in the paleontology-stratigraphic museum of the Department of Dynamical and Historical Geology, St. Petersburg State University.
