The article deals with the biblical parallels in the legend of the poet Caedmon. The text of this legend, presented in the “Ecclesiastical History of the English People” by Venerable Bede contains a lot of allusions to the stories of Old Testament prophets as well as the scene of the Nativity of Christ. The analysis shows that these allusions can be seen as part of historical context
