The work is devoted to the intellectual biography of M.V. Yuzefovich (1802- 1889) - a conservative publicist, currently known only for his memories of A.S. Pushkin, notes to the «Memoirs of the Decembrist» by N.I. Laurer, as well as the role in the preparation of the «anti-Ukrainian» Emsky decree. Only partly affecting the events of 1876, the author pays much attention to socio-political views Yuzefovich. Despite the change of individual judgments, Yuzefovich's «basis» of belief throughout his life remained unchanged, representing a peculiar combination of standard for his era «details»: nationalism, democracy, monarchism and service ethos. Despite the fact that over the years in this complex the conservative element increasingly prevailed, the monarchism of M.V. Yuzefovich was not of aristocratic, but rather of a «caesarist» character.
