The authors are forming the idea of the object and the subject, and also the functions of social geography (or geography of society) in the modern geographical knowledge system. The constituent parts of geographical cover ("geoversum"), used in human activity (from "oikumena" to "topos"), are treated as an object, and time-spatial organization of social systems, that are represented by the regions of corresponding hierarchical level and rank as a subject Finding out egularities of formation and working out echanisms of regulation the functioning of these systems defines the tasks of social geography.
