Questions are posed to determine a problem field of personality psychology and its internal structure. A significance and interrelation of various directions being actively developed today are discussed. Special autors attention is paid to an existential approach, the ideas of which are connected with challenges of modernity and with problems of modern person, as well as to psychology of everyday life, which allows to study a real person in a real world. The specifics of Russian tradition of psychological research of personality and its development prospects are considered. The authors offer an understanding of subject and content of personality psychology as an interconnection of structural and functional fields (personality traits and properties), contextual (psychology of everyday life: life scenarios, life strategies, life style, etc.) and existential (existential identity, existential experience, meanings of life, etc.) ones.
