abstract = "results in a redistribution of biomass and energy flows onthe planet. This phenomenon is studied through collection, analysis and interpretation of specific data on the movementsof different species of birds in different seasons on differentcontinents. In this regard, Northwest Russia occupiesa special position, because here runs the White Sea-Balticbranch of the East Atlantic Flyway. This book is essentially the second part of a two-volumeedition. The first part — “Migration of Birds of NorthwestRussia. Non-Passerines” — published in 2016 with the financialsupport from Russian Foundation for BasicResearch. The book is based on a wealth of factual materialwhich has been amassed by a group of researchersthrough years of activities. A special place in the materialis occupied by the data of ringing and in vivo investigationsof birds captured at the Ladoga ornithological station(about 1 million), during the half century of its existence. Inthe monograph devoted to migrating passerines, as in thefirst part, the authors examine the problem of migrationthrough the prism of the concept of the migratory activity{\textquoteright}sposition in the annual cycle of birds. It is shown thatalthough the forms of migratory activity vary widely, periods of migration are a concrete manifestation of thethree original periods of mobility in the annual cycle ofseasonal events. A differential approach to the periods ofmigration activity, in particular a clear distinctionbetween postfledging migration and postnuptialmigration, on the one hand, and postmolting migration,on the other, allows to obtain new theoretical knowledgeabout the evolution of migratory behavior in differentecological and taxonomic groups of the Aves class. The book is intended for ornithologists, ecologists, conservationists, students, bird lovers.",
