Families raising children with special needs often face societal stigma that deeply affects their mental, emotional, and physical health. This paper examines the origins and impacts of this stigma while highlighting the unique role of nurses in addressing and reducing its effects. Drawing from a thorough review of literature, case studies, and interviews, this research identifies key strategies for nurses to support these families. Compassionate care, public education, advocacy, and building inclusive communities are central to this effort. The study calls for nurse-led interventions and systemic changes to create a more inclusive and understanding society where families can thrive without judgment or isolation.
