This article reports a visual search experiment involving Cyrillic letters of the Russian alphabet. Results show that (1) the first and last letters of test arrays are detected faster than neighboring letters and the letter search function looked like Mcurve; (2) letter quality influences response latencies. The results argued for parallel letter-position encoding in Russian
