This chapter discusses the simplest models of rotor systems with a finite number of degrees of freedom. Various types of rotor vibrations due to their unbalance, the unequal elastic characteristics of the shaft or bearings, as well as the influence of internal friction and structural damping are studied. Problems of balancing of rotors equipped with a passive automatic ball balancers are investigated.
