Based on the corrected crater model of the emitting surface evolution of the thermal-field ionic source, the results of an investigation of transition processes and kinetic effects during the setting up of stationary thermal-field emission are presented. Comparison of theoretical calculations and experimental data has shown a good agreement between the theory and experiment and validity of the crater model.
