N2 - To describe the mechanical behavior of heterogeneous (composite, ceramic) materials, formed of linear elastic and nonlinear viscous components, the modified Maxwell equation is introduced. The energy conservation law is applied to formulate the fracture criterions for heterogeneous materials and common metallic alloys. As an example, the fracture criterion for the ceramic composite is formulated. The energy approach to the fatigue fracture problem is also discussed.
