A formalism of pseudospin and anisotropic g-factor tensor is introduced and applied to the problem of finding the ground state of the hole magnetic polaron in a semimagnetic quantum well. The theory yeilds the direction of the polaron total moment as a function of external magnetic field. The polarisation of heavy exciton luminescence in Voigt geometry is shown to be substantially lowered by the magnetopolaron effect.
