The use of the Internet in self-management health practices is a topic of growing interest among researchers.Chronic stress has become the hallmark of our time. Practices in dealing with stress and its consequences in modern societyare increasingly relying on the use of social media. The purpose of our research was to identify the patterns of discussionamong social media users discussing everyday life stress, its impact on health and ways to manage stress. The sampleincluded six Russian-language online forums devoted to the discussion of stress management. We made inductive anddeductive coding of comments using

QDA software NVivo11. Three patterns of discussing stress self-management in socialmedia were identified: discussion of taking sedatives without a doctor's prescription; discussion of lifestyle changes as aremedy for reducing stress; discussing the role of stress professionals in stress self-management. Our results could beimportant for a better understanding of how social media is used in self-management health practices and how it couldtransform relations between professional and everyday novice knowledge.
