The thermodynamic theory of gas-liquid chromatography has been developed, taking into account specific properties of thin films of the liquid phase expressed in terms of the "disjoining pressure". Equations were derived to describe the dependence of the retention volume on the thickness of the stationary phase over the whole range of thickness. The results are in good agreement with experimental values. A chromatographic method for determining the constants of disjoining pressure is suggested.
