Using the magnetic-pulse loading, the series of tests on samples with imitation macrocrack were conducted, aimed at energy balance analysis and determining Griffiths partial surface energy at high-speed destruction. The results of test and following finite-element modeling show that kinetic and potential components of the energy transferred to the sample at contact are comparable and so, the material's kinetic energy under considered conditions can't be neglected.
