The book presents the results of a multiyear, comprehensive study of the state of historical monuments of St. Petersburg, which are exposed to the destructive impact of the urban environment. Its authors faced a task to fully describe the
main approaches to the monitoring of cultural heritage sites, drawing on the world experience and the data accumulated by the authors. The main specific aspect of this work was the application of an interdisciplinary approach to the tasks.
