The present article is an attempt to apply the model of sense to sympathic speech acts making up a group of expressives. The model of sense is a universal dynamic structure consisting of several components that can be referred to as elementary senses. Prior research in this field showed how this sense model is realized in other selected expressive speech acts. The undertaken analysis of
numerous examples of sympathics in the German language clearly states that all elementary senses may be found in them as well. The article dwells upon the place the elementary senses occupy in the general sense of utterance structure and the peculiarities of their realization.
