Diabetes mellitus is associated with a high risk of perinatal complications: fetal macrosomia, shoulders dystocia and perinatal mortality. This condition obliges us to optimize the tactics of pregnancy and childbirth of women with DM pathology. The literature review presents the latest data of the optimal timing and childbirth methods for pregnant women with various types of diabetes (DM type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes mellitus). In the modern world, there is no universal tactic of childbirth for pregnant women with carbohydrate metabolism disorders. Mainly, we have a lack of sufficient evidence-based research and meta-an-alyzes regarded to this issue. Moreover, there are the population heterogeneity and some national approaches to the management of pregnant women with diabetes. Thus, we need to gather more qualitative research to develop optimal management algorithms for pregnancy and childbirth under condition of the various types of diabetes.
