Different structures and algorithms used for physical data storage and representation in modern DBMS are discussed. Overview of storage system support for complex objects manipulation is presented. Classification and survey of modern access methods is given. It includes dynamic hashing schemes, multidimensional and spatial indexing. Index structures for database support are analysed, method based on binary semantic data model is considered. Special data structures for main memory databases are presented. Advantages of using main memory for database storage are discussed.
