Special Economic Zones (SEZ) are specific territorial administrative units and initially focused on innovations, breakthrough technologies. They have a preference in terms of organization of enterprise activity and creating an attractive environment for business investment. As a result, they are the driver of the territory, the region as a whole. In this study, authors established the impact on the development of the SEZ territory on the basis of empirical data on the special economic zones of modern Russia.
