We present synthetic solar intensity spectra in the UV calculated with the code COSI (COde for Solar Irradiance). We have evaluated the dominant solar opacity sources, and find it necessary to include the complex bound-free cross sections of the lower levels of neutral metals. Here we evaluate the quality of our implementation using a coarse frequency discretization and find such a description to be sufficient for atmosphere calculations.
