The short-time behavior of the survival probability was studied in the frame of the Friedrichs model. It was shown that this probability is not necessarily analytic at zero time, and may not even be quadratic for the short times while the quantum-Zeno effect (QZE) still exists in such a case. Furthermore, it was demonstrated that the time period within which the QZE could be observed is much smaller than previously believed.
