Abstract: The characteristics of cardioactivity and the accumulation of metals in the tissues of bivalve mollusks from different water areas of the eastern Gulf of Finland and Rybinsk Reservoirs have been considered. The functional state of the mollusks has been analyzed with the use of original hyperosmotic test impact. An approach is proposed to ranking the quality of freshwater ecosystems by the state of bivalve mollusks dwelling in them.
