N2 - A method for a vacuum of 10** minus **9-10** minus **1**0 torr is described. It is based on registration of initially accelerated field electrons by a silicon surface-barrier detector. A detector resolution of 30% has been obtained for electrons accelerated to 12 keV. Results are reported for investigation of emission from W and Si.
