In the first section of the volume "Problems of the quality of the environment in big cities and industrial zones" (by Shelutko V.A., Dmitriev V.V., Galtsova V.V., Gutnichenko V.G., Russia) specific features of ecology of big cities and industrial zones are discussed, and anthropogenic factors of environmental quality formation are mentioned. It is shown that many elements of natural environment, in big cities and industrial zones are not only changing in time, but are also intentionally or unintentionally destroyed. As a result a new, mainly artificial environment (urban ecosystem) is created being an unstable natural-anthropogenic system and including architectural and construction objects and anthropogenicatly transformed geospace. Urban ecosystems are highly vulnerable both in respect of anthropogenic and biotic and abiotic impacts of environment. That is why they are maintained exclusively by man.
