The spectral photovoltaic (PV) characterization of CuAlO2 crystallites was investigated. Using ion exchange reaction at 475°C, the delafossite phase of CuAlO2 was prepared. A paste of the reaction product was made by adding some drops of water, and paste was deposited by doctor blade technique on glass substrates covered with a thin film of molybdenum. The results show that the produced CuAlO2 crystallites are p-type and high electronic quality, and the temperature of the optical band gap is between 80 and 600K.
