The dynamic adsorption preconcentration of volatile organic compounds from aqueous solutions has been examined. It is demonstrated that the conditions of the process can be optimized within the framework of the chromatographic plate theory. An adequate method for calculating the recovery of the concentrated compounds as a function of the ratio between the sample volume and chromatographic parameters of the adsorption column is proposed.
