In supramolecular complex (1-EtPy)3{[Bi2I9](I2)0.75} (1), diiodine fragments are “captured” by iodobismuthate anions via the system of non-covalent I···I interactions (halogen bonding). The energies of latter were estimated by theoretical methods; optical features and Raman spectrum are discussed.
