The question of possible South Slavic influence on Old Russian art has been raised repeatedly in Russian and Serbian historiography. This paper treats this question basing on Serbian and Old Russian architecture. Our investigation in basic historiography and comparative analysis of architectural material shows that the similarities in typology and compositions of Serbian and Old Russian churches from the 13th to the 15th century result from parallel developments rather than influence of one tradition onto another.
