The article touches upon significant topics related to the orthoepy
of Turkish speech. Orthoepy registers the normative rules for the pronunciation of
words and word forms in a sentence, is responsible for the correct use of verbal and
phrasal stress. The authors of the article attempt to show that the correct pronunciation consists not only in knowing how individual sounds of speech are pronounced,
but also in how these sounds are combined with each other when building words and
word forms, as well as what changes can follow when combining different sounds.
The article describes speech combinatorial changes that are relevant for the Turkish
language, among which the main ones are assimilation, dissimilation, accommodation, palatalization, epenthesis, dieresis.
