The solar cycle pairing known as the even–odd effect is compared with the opposite one. The arrangement in even-odd pairs is found no be not preferable in comparison to that in odd-even ones. We argue that a conclusion about a physical coupling of solar cycles into pairs, based on a number of a cycle, does not have a sense.
