N2 - A brief review of the application of non-equilibrium thermodynamics (NET) is presented and advantages of some results of NET for the analysis of membrane processes are discussed. The case study of evaporation through a membrane (pervaporation) is considered on the basis of simplest approach in the framework of linear NET. A few examples are presented for membranes on the basis of polymers of heteroaromatic structures (polyheteroarylenes).
