N2 - Abstract: A brief review and analysis of research on the relationship between the chemical affinity and the kinetic characteristics of chemical reactions are presented. It is noted that there is a lack of experimental data necessary for the development of the theory, including for correlating the affinity of the chemical process with its rate. Some tendencies of variation of the chemical affinity, as well as the kinetic coefficients correlating the reaction path with its affinity, are considered using the experimental data obtained by the authors on a system with ester synthesis as an example. The potential for developing research in this area is shown.
