Results of studying the process of nonstationary energy exchange between waves having a broad spectrum and propagating through an optically dense resonantly absorbing medium are discussed. It is shown that the phenomena of cooperative interaction of coherent radiation and matter-cooperative self-diffraction-play an important role in the energy-exchange process.
