In the present paper the influence of highly non-equilibrium vibrational-chemical kinetics on the vibrational distributions, gas flow parameters and heat transfer is discussed. Several kinetic theory approaches are considered, among them state-to-state, multi-temperature and one-temperature models. Non-equilibrium effects are studied both in shock heated and supersonic expanding flows, and some peculiarities of kinetics, dynamics and transport processes in these flows are emphasized.
